The Life and Times of Dick Simon (Vintage Motorsport)
Having a phone conversation with Dick Simon is like reading a really good book; you just sit back and let it roll. At age 81, Dick has lost none of the optimism and unbridled verve that made him one of the more accomplished drivers and team owners in postwar Indy-car racing. Today, he's likely to apologize for lacking the sharp recall he once had for elates and people. But then he starts spinning stories in such telling detail and good-natured empathy that its hard to believe he missed a comma or a semicolon.

The SVRA Returns! Just a Little About Last Year's Race
Hi everybody. I’m just that bald-headed old ex-Indy driver that loves racing with everything that you can imagine. A Little About Lyn St. James
A Little About Lyn St. James

Do you know what? It's almost like trying to teach a man and a wife how to drive a boat. I can tell the man, this is what you do, and he'll do it his own way first and find out it doesn't work. The woman will listen to you and try your method first because she doesn't know for sure or she's not as macho as a man, and that was Lyn. If I told Lyn, this is what I'd like to see you do, come out closer to the wall, she'd come out closer to the wall and actually rub the wall. Is that close enough?

Indy Race 5/24/2015 (Commentary by Dick Simon)
WOW! What a race yesterday. It reminded me of the old days... Everybody was competitive, everybody was on the edge, everybody was running hard, and the competition was tremendous! 37, I believe, lead changes, and 15 lead changes in the last few laps! That was exciting. The cars were very competitive, they were safe, obviously you saw the accidents... So the change in the rules went in the right direction.
