48' CELESTIAL BLUWATER 48 (1985) "INDIGO"

Indigo is a center cockpit ketch-rigged bluewater cruiser that has been well-loved by knowledgeable and meticulous owners.  She is capable and prepared to cruise anywhere in the world and to cross oceans in comfort.

Indigo has appeared in several sailing magazines and websites including SAIL Magazine, Cruising Outpost, Latitudes & Attitudes and Talk of the Dock.  She has also been featured in Latitudes & Attitudes TV (episode 40).  Onboard solutions have been highlighted in sailing community and she is recognized in most anchorages she visits.

Numerous smart upgrades have included redundancies such as dual Racor fuel filters, backup standalone navigation units, massive bank of maintenance-free batteries as well as generator, and a revamp of her anchoring options.  Owners have spared no expense over the past decade in upgrades, additions and smart choices for distance cruising.

Indigo's split rig means the sail plan is easily managed by a couple.  Her large mizzensail provides extra choices in downwind sailing configurations and her sail bags mean no more wrestling with stowing large sail covers.

Celestials were famous for their tankage - 250 gallons of fuel and 200 gallons of fresh water, which made them truly remarkable and self-sufficient cruisers.  The tanks are below the cabin sole on the centerline so the weight adds to the stability of the vessel.  Stowage capacity (both outside in cockpit lockers and lazarettes) as well as inside (in lockers, behind and under settees) is exceptional.

Indigo is a go-anywhere vessel in exceptional shape that will allow you to live the cruising dream.

Interior/Accommodations Overview

Below, Indigo has a contemporary two-cabin, two-head layout with the master suite aft, separate from the rest of the vessel for maximum privacy.  The owner's cabin includes a queen for-and-aft centerline bed with a custom mattress and an en suite head with a separate stand-up shower stall.  Stowage is excellent.

The L-shaped galley has a Norcold refrigerator and separate freezer that will even keep ice cream.  A Kenmore microwave makes meal prep easy as does the 3-burner stove/oven combo.  The chef can be a part of the conversation in the salon where there is a 32" flat-screen TV and BluRay player for entertainment.

The interior is cool and bright thanks to 15 opening ports and 7 overhead hatches.  The beautiful varnished and hand-rubbed Burmese teak glows in the evening with the help of two trawler-type brass oil lamps that also heat the salon on chilly evenings.  The newly upholstered settees add a modern designer touch.

The forward-facing nav station is large and has integrated paper chart stowage below.  It is at arm's length from the AC/DC electrical panel and is positioned perfectly for good communication with anyone at the helm.  The VHF radio base station, an instrument repeater and an independent chartplotter keep tabs on navigation and communication from below.

Truly unique in the engine room with an opening door and room to actually enter the space to do regular maintenance or troubleshooting.  An extensive tool and spares locker lies directly across from the engine room door.  Maintenance can be done easily without disturbing the rest of the interior of the vessel.

Ample fresh water capacity (200 gallons) and an unheard of 900 amp hours of battery capacity translate to comfortable, self-sustained cruising for weeks.
