Providing extra enjoyment while on board is a deluxe entertainment center and an airy, comfortable salon with living-room-style opposed seating, premium gloss cherry wood finish, plush cut-pile carpeting, and a new salon table. What's more, you can count on precision handling with Meridian's exclusive Docking On Command® system, a standard feature that allows you to maneuver the yacht's bow and stern thrusters with a single control. For 2006 there's also a wide range of standard and optional Northstar® navigation and communications systems to make your cruising experience more fun and hassle-free. And that's what the 381 experience is all about.

The Meridian 381 Sedan provides passengers with all the luxuries of home. Dave Taylor, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Meridian Yachts, says, “The Meridian design team has set a new standard in yacht ‘cruisabilty.’ From the minute you board the 381, the attention to detail is apparent. You will see one of the most practical layouts available for cruising, with a bright open salon and a two-cabin layout.”

Featuring expansive windows offering panoramic views, the 6-foot, 4-inch salon headroom gives the feeling of being in a much larger yacht. An ingeniously placed entertainment center houses a 20-inch Sony TV with VCR along with a Clarion AM/FM/CD stereo system, satisfying the most discriminating crew’s entertainment needs. Mirage leather, used for seating throughout the craft, lends an elegant, comfortable feel you would expect to find in a luxury home. Standard twin Flexsteel incliners are great for relaxing after a long day of beachcombing.

The 381 sleeps up to six passengers in home-like comfort with its two-cabin floor plan. The 381’s finely crafted solid-cherry woodwork throughout the interior is beautiful, yet easy to maintain. The forward master stateroom houses a cleverly designed island double berth with steps for easy access. A private mid-ship stateroom offers comforts such as a spacious berth for two and a hanging locker lined with aromatic cedar. Both staterooms feature posh accommodations with designer fabrics accented by decorative pillows.

According to Paul Cherney, vice president of sales for Meridian Yachts, “For entertaining below, the location of galley and dinette makes it very convenient to either host family and friends or have an intimate breakfast while underway or anchored.” The standard galley equipment includes a two-burner electric cook top, microwave, and refrigerator/freezer. Standard Karadon countertops in the galley and head are both striking and durable.

The standard propulsion units on the Meridian 381 are twin MerCruiser® 350 MAG MPI Horizon (300 hp) inboard gas engines with freshwater cooling, for sterling performance. Optional twin engines include MerCruiser 6.2 L MPI Horizon gas inboards; MerCruiser 8.1 L Horizon gas inboards with fresh water cooling; 270 Cummins MerCruiser® Diesel inboards; or 330 Cummins MerCruiser Diesel inboards. All Meridian engine beds have transverse crossbeams to add strength and reduce vibration for a quieter ride. These structural engine mountings transfer the weight, torque and thrust of the propulsion system to the structural components of the hull, not the engine mounts.

During the fiberglass construction process, each part is hand assembled using heavy-grade 24-ounce woven roving and bi-axial knit fiberglass fabrics, hand-rolled and finished between alternating layers of strand, using the optimum amount of resin for the highest strength-to-weight ratio structure. Premium-quality vinylester resin is used behind the gelcoat to prevent water penetration. The deck design is cambered for on-deck water management and is constructed using closed-cell foam coring material with backing plates in high-stress areas for a strong, lightweight system. All these features combine to ensure unparalleled strength, while providing a mirror-like exterior finish. Meridian offers an industry-leading 10-year structural hull and deck limited warranty, for peace of mind.

Unique to the Meridian line is the exclusive D.O.C.™, or Docking On Command, system. Optional on the 381, this easy-to-use; single-control system allows the captain to navigate through the tightest docking conditions. Cherney adds, “All Meridian Yachts are a culmination of the best design, engineering and thought-processes in the industry, and provide hassle-free boating for yachtsmen of every experience level.”
