Their first partnership was the founding of Pacific Seacraft Corporation. Back then, a serious offshore sailor planning an extended cruise through far oceans always looked to their boats as the benchmark of what a world class cruising boat should be. Common wisdom acknowledged that there simply was nothing better available anywhere in the world.

Overview

When the reputation of their boats brought an international firm to purchase the company, Mohrschladt and Howarth sold Pacific Seacraft, and not yet ready to stop building boats, directed their knowledge and skill to the challenges of building sport fishing boats. The result? Unmatched materials, design and construction that put Cabo Yachts in a class all their own. Not even custom built vessels surpass the quality of Cabo

Whatever aspect you're looking at, the quality of a Cabo is immediately obvious. Take the time to spend a few minutes on any Cabo Yacht the next time you see one at a boat show. Pay attention to the comments of visitors to the boat. Comments like, "You can feel the quality as soon as your feet hit the deck" and "Check out the engine room, you won't believe it. Can you get a bunk in there? It's nicer than my salon!" Listen to the descriptions offered by those having just completed their own inspection. Whether a 31 Express or 47 convertible, a Cabo is as close to flawless as a boat can be.

Design & Construction

The Cabo 47's beamy, modified V-hull contributes to an exceptionally dry and comfortable ride, handling glassy morning seas at speed, or heavy chop in a manner that inspires total confidence. Cabo's impeccable hull is further separated from the competition when you consider the manufacturing process and materials, some of the most expensive in the industry. Lightweight and impermeable vinylester resins are used throughout for strength and durability. Stitched biaxial fiberglass roving further strengthens the hull without adding excess weight. State of the art coring materials are used where appropriate to reduce weight and enhance performance.

Starting with the hull, and running throughout the rest of the vessel, you'll find that the attention to detail and unmatched quality suggest that Mohrschladt and Howarth continue to build to the same exacting standards cited by Fortune magazine some years ago when their company was listed as one of the top 100 manufacturers in the country. You need look no further than Cabo if you want the best.

Accommodations

The Cabo 47 interior presents the perfect balance of rugged simplicity and sophisticated elegance. The large salon is perfect for entertaining friends or relaxing while reviewing the highlights of a successful day of fishing on the home theater system. The perfect fit and finish of the cabinetry is testimony to the outstanding ability of Cabo Yachts craftsman. Premium quality solid teak, and stainless steel hardware are used in all cabinet and locker doors. Beauty is matched with function by Cabo’s crosshatch vented design cabinet doors that allow air to circulate. Positive latch cabinet hardware prevents doors from opening in rough seas, and hinges feature a convenient hold-open design.

Cabo 47 Flybridge Salon

Between the L-shaped lounge to port, and the dining area to starboard, the salon comfortably seats eight adults.
Deep pile carpeting and a selection of designer interior fabrics and upholstery are standard.

Cabo 47 Flybridge Salon

Choosing teak and holly sole and full-grain leather upholstery only adds to the richness of the salon. Recessed halogen lighting provides soft yet efficient lighting.  Dual climate control heating and air conditioning keep the salon comfortable. A Bose home theater system custom designed for the Cabo 47's interior acoustics and coupled to the salons flat screen TV completes the salon's comfort and entertainment amenities.

The galley is well designed for the "good life aboard".  The durable beauty of Corian is crafted into the countertops with custom sea rails, sink, and recessed cover for the two burner electric cook top. Under-cabinet recessed halogen lights provide additional galley lighting.

Cabo 47 Flybridge Galley

Two Sub Zero refrigerator and freezer units are presented in a unique 4-drawer configuration for maximum storage capacity and convenient access. A huge storage locker below the galley affords additional storage for supplies, or even a deflated dinghy and outboard motor.

Three steps down from the salon and galley are spacious master and guest cabins. Forward on the starboard side is the guest cabin, with two single berths and a mid-cabin style double berth. The guest cabin  makes a great play area for children, or comfortable accommodations for four adults. The master head adjoins the owner’s stateroom, with separate shower stall finished with “Corian” counters and custom grade fixtures.  An equally well-finished head compartment serves guests and crew.

Cabo 47 Flybridge Guest Stateroom

Fully forward, the master stateroom provides the comfort of a large double island berth with storage compartments and large drawers below. There's also large cedar lined hanging closets and rod lockers to both port and starboard. The stateroom also has a custom built-in TV/VCR, recessed halogen lighting, foredeck hatch with retractable shade, and access to the anchor rope locker.  A private entry leads to the master head, which includes a separate shower stall with lexan door as well as storage cabinets for toiletries, linens and towels.

Spacious accommodations, created with unparalleled craftsmanship and design provide utility and a rich environment to meet the needs of dedicated sport fishermen and cruising yachtsmen alike who demand the meticulous construction and design for which Cabo Yachts is so well known.

Fishability

Step into the cockpit of the Cabo 47, and it is immediately apparent why Cabo's are so well known for their fishability.     At a full 156 square feet, the Cabo's cockpit provides as much space as most 55 and 58-foot boats, and much more than similar size boats.  While a large cockpit gives the Cabo 47 a clear advantage, it is the attention to detail and forethought that Cabo Yachts applied to the placement of essentials like bait freezers, live wells, drawers for rigging tools, compartments for lures and tackle and cabinets for gaffs and nets that set the Cabo 47 far ahead of it’s competition.

Cabo 47 Flybridge Cockpit

Twin seven-foot long fish boxes are molded into the cockpit sole. Equipped with in line macerators, full-length piano hinges, gas struts and rubber gaskets, you don't have to worry about the lids slamming shut at the wrong moment.

The Cabo's transom door opens outward keeping the cockpit clear, and the top bar operates independently of the door panel in order to provide safety for the angler and crew while bringing large fish aboard.  Massive, custom-built stainless steel hinges add long lasting durability. You won’t find hardware like this on any other comparable yacht.

Cabo 47 Flybridge Cockpit Fishing

Padded bolsters ring the cockpit for extra comfort and security when using a stand up rig, Lures and rigging equipment can be easily organized in custom-built drawers at the rigging station, which includes a prep sink and bait chest freezer. Port and starboard cabinets running nearly the length of the cockpit provide storage for gaffs and nets, leaving the cockpit clean and free of obstruction when fighting a fish. The 48-gallon live well is located in the transom to minimize intrusion into valuable cockpit space, and is lit for nighttime use.

The bridge on the Cabo 47 features a tournament style configuration, with the console situated aft allowing the captain 360-degree visibility, including an unobstructed view of the entire cockpit.  And when the fish moves off the corner, single-lever electronic controls mounted on a Palm Beach style pod provide ultra smooth shifting and rapid response handling, enabling the captain to move the boat to the fish quickly.  A forward bench seat comfortably accommodates three, while two to three more can watch the action from a settee on the port side.

Engine instrumentation is centrally located on the helm with easily read analog gauges.  The console is designed to accommodate today's state of the art electronics including radar, GPS, fish finder, communications, autopilot and more.A storage cabinet for binoculars, sunglasses and other necessities is located conveniently in front of the companion chair.  The Cabo 47 bridge is perfectly suited to the job of “running the boat”

Handling & Performance

Handling and performance are the heart and soul of a sport fish boat. If you can’t get the boat to the fish, it’s over. According to professionals in the marine industry who have run the Cabo 47 and who are in a position to evaluate its handling and performance against other boats near it’s size and class, the Cabo 47 simply has no peer.

Cabo 47 Flybridge for sale

“ She runs as well as any 50 foot boat I have ever run and better than any thing her size.”  The 47 is quick to come up on plane with 800hp MAN diesel engines and its wake breaks away from the boat well aft, and looks as if it had been generated by a much smaller boat,.  This indicates an efficient planning hull that’s getting up and skimming the water instead of pushing it aside.  Whether in a beam sea, trolling or backing down, the Cabo 47 is a rock solid stable fishing platform.

This kind of performance is no accident. The Cabo’s ability to out run and out maneuver its competition is the result of intensive research and development. Prior to bringing the 47 to market, nearly one year was spent testing and retesting the hull design.  The data gathered from tests at different speeds, running angles, and weight distributions were analyzed then applied to the final design. The result, a boat that is taking the industry by storm with its extraordinary sea keeping characteristics and unmatched fishability without doubt, the CABO 47 is the most solid-feeling, smooth running 47-footer on the market.

Engine Room

When it comes to the engine room, Cabo’s objective was to build a simple straightforward layout for the Cabo’s machinery that’s and easy to use and maintain.  The mechanical space in the Cabo truly is an engineering marvel, and one with which even the most particular owner or captain will find no fault.

Step down into the engine compartment through the cockpit door, and the sheer space, light and obvious mechanical precision with which all of the equipment has been installed nearly takes your breath away.

The spaciousness of the CABO's engine room is attributable to unique design and engineering exclusive to Cabo.  Cabo has designed a structure that not only adds strength and stability without adding weight, it eliminates the need for additional support beams, leaving the engine room free of obstructions while providing superior sound insulation.  Engine maintenance can be completed utilizing either AC or DC lighting, and there are two large ventilating fans to speed the removal of heat from the engine room.

Cabo Yachts 47 Flybridge Engine Room

There is ample space for the installation of additional equipment during commissioning and every inch of surface is finished in glimmering white gel coat for easy clean-up.  Equally important, 360 accessability for both engines means there isn't any component or system that can't be easily accessed when needed.  Fuel lines are aircraft grade braided stainless steel for durability. All wiring and plumbing is clearly labeled, and exceed the marine industry standards.  Wiring and plumbing that runs through bulkheads is protected from chafing with polymer or high-grade solid rubber grommets.

Cabo Yachts has worked to make engine and machinery spaces as accessible as possible so that owners and captains can better maintain not only their yachts equipment, but its lasting value.
