CABO 31 EXPRESS (2002) OFF MARKET

Any boat rides smoothly inside the jetties. Picture perfect days with glass-calm seas are great equalizers. But those conditions don't challenge any boat. One hundred miles offshore at the East Coast canyons or running deep into Mexico for blue water and big fish, you commonly see 50-footers and larger -- but you also see Cabos leading the way, fishing confidently in waters no other comparably sized boats dare to fish. Virtually every boating expert who has driven the new Cabo 31 has responded with the same glowing accolades --"the most perfect 31-foot sportfishing boat ever built!"

FISHABILITY

"I've got a captain who's been fishing our area for decades," says Cabo 31 owner William Lundquist of Florida, "And when he came aboard to fish with me one day, I asked him how he liked the boat. He said that it was the finest 31-footer he'd ever set foot on. And he runs a 39-foot Rybovich right now." You could fill a book with all the like minded comments from people who have experienced the Cabo 31's fishing prowess. Despite the popularity of 50+ footers in sportfishing, you won't find a single offshore angler who denies that if your really serious about fishing, nothing beats the blinding quickness of a 31-footer. Whether trolling of drifting, she rolls gently and predictably.

CABO Yachts has built it's reputation on making fishing boats and as such, the Cabo 31 offers every amenity you'd put aboard if you were to design it yourself. From cockpit washdowns to large, dual fishboxes, from an incredibly complete tackle and bait prep center to rod storage for a dozen big-tackle rigs, the Cabo runs to the fishing grounds fully armed.

EXTERIOR

CABO Yachts and designer Lou Codega combined their knowledge and skill to produce a hull unparalleled in the size range. An 18.5° transom deadrise and wide reversed chines provide exceptional roll stability for trolling in a beam sea while to deep forefoot and 46° deadrise at the bow provide the softest head sea ride you have ever experienced in a boat this size. It is truly the perfect compromise between deep-V running ability, and moderate-V fuel efficiency.

The design of the Cabo 31 can only be described as revolutionary. Anyone who has been aboard a Bertram 31 - once the benchmark for 31-foot offshore boat - will not believe that this, too, is a 31-footer. A 12'5" beam carried well forward provide buoyancy to lift the bow up over the steepest wave while providing extraordinary internal living space. Never in the history of yachting has a 31-foot express sportfisher had as much space as the Cabo 31.

The construction is without equal, harkening back to the days of master craftsmen handfitting every piece of a vessel perfectly, producing mirror finishes and taking personal pride of craftsmanship in the product they create.

"Every place we go, whenever we tie up, we instantly have 10 people behind the boat looking at it," says Cabo owner Harold Kelly. The first thing you notice upon approaching a Cabo 31 is the gleam. Sighting along the hull finds not a single dull spot, dimple or flaw. CABO Yachts uses only the absolute best gelcoat money can buy - and it shows.

A solid fiberglass bottom consisting of biaxial stitched fiberglass roving assures a rock solid and secure hull. From the waterline to the rails, the Cabo incorporates the best Baltek end-grain balsa coring for incredible strength without performance- hindering weight. And to augment the hull's external integrity, CABO Yachts employs a unique structural module that eliminates torsional flex and makes the entire hull and interior one solid piece that will build your confidence, even in severe conditions.

HELM

Many CABO 31 owners have traded down from 50- and 60-footers, but still want all of the navigation equipment they enjoyed on their big boats. Most 31-footers are hard-pressed to fit much more than a radio, depth sounder and GPS. The CABO 31 has room to flushmount a chart plotter, radar, video depth sounder, VHF, cellular telephone and whatever else you can think of - all directly within line of sight and easy reach of the helmsman. It can be said, unequivocally, that in fit and finish, the CABO 31 has no equal. We're sure you'll agree.

COCKPIT

The cockpit deck is more than up to the task for those who want to mount a fighting chair. Anglers who prefer stand-up style fishing will really appreciate the toe room under the thigh-high gunwales. Your center of gravity can always remain inside the boat -- even while gaffing a fish. The cockpit is large enough to accommodate five or six anglers for bottom or drift-fishing and yet small enough for two anglers to fish with ease. Heavily insulated and fully gasketed ice chest can be cold plated for use as a bait freezer (option shown at left) Locking tackle storage cabinets keep your gear ready when you need it. Fish boxes are built into the CABO 31's transom as well as in the cockpit floor. The CABO 31 has over 18 cubic feet of fish storage space standard. Every inch of the CABO 31 cockpit is designed for fishing offshore. Starboard foot step includes a saltwater washdown hose and gun which coils up easily when finished. At portside you will find a freshwater system as well. The padded gunwales are at a comfortable height, below is more handy storage for bait nets or gaffs.

INTERIOR

Call it what you wish-- Bristol-fashion, yacht-quality, or gold plated -- the interior on the CABO 31 will not be outshone by the most expensive custom yachts. The joinery smacks of master craftsmanship of yore. Look inside the cabinets, under the drawers, and in hidden storage areas (all with positive-tensioning latches) and you will find fine, flawless finishes rather than rough fiberglass or splinters. The beautiful teak and holly cabin sole (optional) sets as the base for rich fabrics, recessed lighting, and decorator upholstery.

Solid Corian counters and plush sleeping accommodations are guaranteed to impress even the most jaded yachtsman. More storage area than most larger yachts assures that your weekends and extended cruises will never lack the creature comforts of home. Nor will the standard electric stove, microwave oven and refrigerator/freezer leave you wanting. The substantial head and shower provide a good hot shower after swimming or a hard day on the water as well as a comfortable, well-lit vanity when heading out for the evening. The cabin of the CABO 31 is both elegant for entertaining and offers abundant rod storage for the serious off shore angler.
