50' OUTBACK YACHTS 50 (2020)

*SOLD AS NEW WITH FULL WARRANTIES*

The Outback 50 - a revolutionary concept in recreational yachting

Masterfully combining the ultimate in style, function, and performance, the Outback 50 is a unique concept in recreational yachting. An expansive aft deck flows smoothly into a modern open salon, blurring the distinction between indoors and “out back,” so you can experience all the fun that life on the water offers. With an overall length of 56 feet, her relatively narrow beam, efficient hull, and shoal draft make it easy to explore areas inaccessible to more conventional yachts her size.

Her light weight and unique engine placement give the Outback 50 incredible stability and a smooth and quiet ride, whether you’re cruising sedately at 8 knots or skimming the water at over 20 knots. The Outback 50 is available in 2 versions, the Infinity Deck or the Extended Deckhouse. Both feature an almost equal apportionment of indoor and outdoor space.

Versatility. Efficiency. Performance. The Outback has it all.

EFFICIENCY AND PERFORMANCE

The Outback’s unique hull shape and proportion create a smooth, stable, and level ride – at  cruising speeds twice that of 56-foot motor yachts with comparable horsepower.

Extraordinary Outback 50 Performance is Based on a Unique Hull Design.

The fundamentals of efficient hull design are based on speed, stability, and the ability to plane effectively. Michael Peters explains how he designed the Outback 50 hull to produce an almost perfect hull resistance curve, minimal trim angle, improved fuel efficiency, and extended cruising range.

Smooth transition to planing speed.

The Outback 50’s optimal speed/length ratio, a smooth 1.7-2.1, results in a very small “hump” between 12.5 and 15 knots as she transitions from displacement mode to planing mode.

On  beamier, heavier boats, that resistance hump is much more pronounced, requiring more effort, power, and fuel to get over the hump and up on plane. And climbing over that hump typically causes the stern to dig in and the bow to rise up, reducing visibility and resulting in an uncomfortable trim angle of up to 5 degrees.

Minimal trim angle.

The Outback 50’s Trim Angle curve, on the other hand, peaks at a more comfortable 2 degrees and flattens as the speed increases. The deck angle never gets too far from level, resulting in uncompromised visibility over the bow.

Fuel efficient at any speed.

The net result is that the Outback 50 hull operates comfortably throughout its desired speed range without excessive power or fuel. The speed-power curve below illustrates the speed potential of the boat in loaded condition with very modest twin engine packages.

Extend your cruising range.

Cruising on a full tank at a respectable clip of 15-20+ knots, the Outback 50 can easily handle a trip of several hundred miles – almost twice the range as other yachts her size using the same amount of fuel. Throttling back to a sedate trawler speed of 8 knots yields a range up to about 1000 miles, enough to easily accommodate a trip up the coast or out to the islands.

The Outback 50 offers extraordinary versatility, economy, and performance, definitely making life more fun “out back.”
