42' MANTA 42 MKI (2000) "JOURNEY" *LLC*
The winner of Cruising World's the Best Value award for 2001, drawn from the entire fleet of nominees, also came from the multihulls. The judges complimented the Manta's FRP structure. "The fact that the builder vacuum-bagged his core, I give him good marks for that;' said Ralph. "It's a properly built boat." Nida-core (polypropylene honeycomb) is bagged in above the waterline and in the deck. "The hulVdeck joint is glued, screwed, and glassed;' said Skip. "You almost never see that." "I liked the two levels of collision bulkhead in the bow;' said Tom. "The builder's thought the electrical usage system through;' said Skip. All in all, the judges found that the Manta 42 offers lots of boat and lots of good sense for a reasonable price.
