An aft galley, internal staircase and a range of other new design initiatives make the Riviera 58 the most eagerly anticipated new cruiser from Australia's most awarded pleasure boat builder. This is a new Riviera cruiser in every respect. It features a wide range of technological innovations that take quality and integrity to a new level.

This three cabin/three head cruiser is the first Riviera to be completely computer designed and computer moulded, ensuring even more accurate fit between hull, deck and flybridge components. The interior joinery has been coated by a high technology automatic varnish system that operates in an entirely dust-free environment and covers each panel with a precise coating. Finally, the swim platform and all of the hatches are made using Light Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM) technology, a closed moulding system that ensures superior quality, consistency and strength of each component.

The interior layout, too, is breakthrough design for Riviera. The galley, dinette and lounge are all on one level. The U-shape galley in the aft port quarter is superbly equipped with a three-burner cooktop, convection microwave oven, two fridges and a freezer mounted under the solid surface benchtop. The dinette, immediately forward of the galley includes a sliding-top table that opens up to reveal storage for drink glasses.

A 32-inch flat-screen television and Bose Lifestyle system provide the entertainment. Te entire saloon is, of course, air conditioned. Access to the fully air-conditioned flybridge is via a wide staircase from the saloon with teak non-slip treads. The forward helm position with a companion chair face a full-beam-wide dash that can accommodate three full 15" monitors.

A docking station in the aft of the flybridge makes reversing and docking the boat a breeze. Aft of the helm seats is an L-shape lounge and a table with further aft-facing seating behind. Accommodation includes three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The master stateroom starboard has a particularly light and airy feel with a large porthole in the hull.

Of all the luxury Flybridge Convertibles we have created in our twenty-six year history, we are especially proud of our 58 Enclosed model. Not only is it the result of leading edge design and manufacturing technology, but the layout, features and fittings cater for easy entertaining and a relaxed lifestyle like never before.

The 58 is unlike any Flybridge Cruiser we have ever built. Australia is blessed with a climate that promotes al fresco dining and our entertaining - although often lavish - is generally easy-going and informal. This is reflected in contemporary Australian architecture with huge sliding doors and windows that create a seamless flow between inside and out. Kitchens are often positioned to cater to both areas with equal ease.

These principles are very evident in the design of the 58. While it is quintessentially Australian, the design is far from parochial: Riviera’s international appeal stems from having an international outlook, and the European styling of the 58 is very apparent. Yes, our boating traditions continue to play a part in our interior design but in the 58 these blend elegantly with the ambience of a modern city apartment.

Australia is also the world’s only island continent and there is a lot more to our boating life than graceful tours of the harbour around the Sydney Opera House. We are flanked by three fierce oceans and two challenging seas and this has spawned a standard of boat building that inspires confidence.

As one of the largest builders of Flybridge Convertibles in the world, Riviera goes further when it comes to the integrity of both our build quality and the integrity of our support for Riviera owners the world over. Build quality is especially important with an enclosed flybridge model because such a vessel is clearly designed to go further, to fish beyond the continental shelf, to explore distant shores. With the 58 Enclosed Flybridge you can do this with absolute confidence, impeccable style and in the greatest of comfort.

As you sit at the helm - letting the power steering do the work for you, of course - and gaze out through that vast curved glass windscreen, family and friends gathered around, there is no doubt you’ll experience a profound sense of satisfaction. And not least because you know the design and structure of your Riviera is world class. The 58 Enclosed Flybridge was designed entirely using the latest Computer Aided Design software.

This approach to design results not only in more precision in the design itself but, because the software also guides the robotic plug cutting router, it produces a mould - and ultimately a hull, deck and flybridge - that are absolutely faithful to the original design. Thorough tank testing and on-water trials have clearly demonstrated the superior performance provided by this technology.

Naturally, many other things contribute to the agility and stability of the 58. Renowned international naval architect Frank Mulder is responsible for the running surface including propeller tunnels that provide more forward thrust, better fuel efficiency and a steadier ride.

The 58 also features a new generation of underwater exhausts that are clean and quiet. Larger shafts, precision engineered Veem propellers and a particularly robust build all contribute to a refreshingly smooth ride. New technology is evident everywhere. For instance, smaller fiberglass components such as hatches and the swim platform are now made with a new closed mold injection process to create a stronger component with a better finish.

The build integrity also includes our tried and tested hand-laid fibreglass hull with bulkheads throughout the hull, a fiberglass engine room liner, extra transverse stiffeners, the added stability of a midmounted fuel tank and a collision bulkhead in the bow. As a serious long-range cruiser or a bluewater sportfishing platform, it is reassuring to know you have a boat designed to weather the storm and one that can handle significant speeds: with engine options you can set your own level of performance.
