Caliber Yachts introduced the Caliber 38 in 1987. Like her predecessors, she combines a true live-aboard interior with performance underbody capable of ocean passages. The luxurious all-teak interior has three fully separate private cabins and two private heads. The fore-and-aft cabins have their own vanities and hanging lockers. The forward head even has a separate shower stall. Hanging lockers are located throughout the boat along with numerous drawers and cabinets. The main saloon has a bulkhead-mounted table that swings up and out of the way. A large galley with an abundance of storage and countertop space will make preparing meals a pleasure. There is a full-size navigation station conveniently located near the companionway. A total of 14 opening ports and seven hatches allows for plenty of ventilation.

More info

Brothers Michael and George McCreary are have been doing right at Caliber Yachts. In less than 10 years, they developed three good boats. Intelligent designs, fair prices and controlled growth have helped them build a satisfied clientele. Mike designed them and George sold them.

Like the smaller Caliber 28 and 33, her lines are strong and crisp, the decks uncluttered and the accommodation plan generous.

Let's take the tour, starting forward. A sturdy bow platform with anchor roller leads aft to a two-compartment chain locker with drains. An optional electric windlass will make the handling of ground tackle easy.

Below, Mike has placed the head and shower stall forward and utilized the greater beam farther aft for a queen-size berth. Opposite is a sit-down vanity and cedar-lined hanging locker. Amidship is a large dinette and settee, both of which can function as sea berths with the addition of lee cloths. A second head is located aft by the under-cockpit cabin; it, too, has a vanity and stool plus lighted mirror. The finish work is elegant without being silly.

The galley and navigation station are to starboard. These areas, plus the aft head, are all easily accessible from the companionway ladder. The Caliber 38 combines performance under sail and live-aboard comfort in an attractive package. Indeed, the McCreary brothers have made their mark. For more information contact
