In 1977, Phoenix introduced its first boat, a 29-footer. From its inception, it was a trend setter. With the 29, Phoenix pioneered the use of a one-piece inner-liner to make the boat incredibly solid, and the use of propeller pockets for a super-efficient hull. And with the 29, Phoenix proved that a sportfisherman need not be 54 feet long to be comfortable offshore. There are 29's in the Caribbean, the coasts of Africa and the South China Sea. As a cruiser, it has yet to meet its match. The 29 has delivered divers and shuttled sightseers everywhere from Cozumel to Kuwait. Its even been enlisted as a patrol boat by foreign Coast Guards. As of 1985, over 500 Phoenix 29's had been delivered.

Phoenix 29 design review by Jim Wynne (Designer):

The Phoenix 29 Flybridge Cruiser is the latest effort of designer Jim Wynne and features Wynne's propeller pockets which allow a relatively flat shaft angle for maximum propulsion efficiency. The pockets are shallow, semi-circular tunnels let into the hull that allow the propellers to be raised, reducing shaft angle. They also permit using larger diameter wheels and thus larger reduction gear ratios.

The Flybridge Cruiser was available with two accommodation plans. The standard arrangement sleeps six with two in the forward V-berths, two in a convertible dinette, and two in the upper and lower berths to starboard. The optional four sleeper arrangement eliminates the upper and lower berths in favor of a lower steering station and an expanded galley. On both versions the galley is equipped with a demand pressure water system, 50gal freshwater capacity, two-burner alcohol range, galley sink, and 2.5cu. ft. ice box. Both versions feature an enclosed head to port with marine w/c, head, and space for an optional shower.

Standard features on both models include self bailing cockpit, 115v electrical system with circuit breakers, 25' 115v shore line with polarity indicator, complete safety equipment including life jackets, life ring, fog bell, and three fire extinguishers, plus many items usually considered as options.

Eleven twin options were available rangine from 220hp-270hp Crusaders, plus twin 200hp Chursler 6-55TI diesels. Fuel capacity is 170 gallons in twin 85 gallon tanks.
