A pacesetting yacht two years in the making, the Azimut 80 brings the next generation of European design and technology to U.S. waters.

"Get a good look at this beauty," said Barry Slade, director of Azimut USA, during the introduction of the new 80 at the Miami International Boat Show. "It's a good bet that our competitors will sport the style in years to come." Slade feels that this luxury yacht will lead a new wave of distinctive profiles and inviting interiors. He may be right.

Designed by Stefano Righini, the 80's exterior features a raked amidships radar arch, fin-shaped windows and large oval portlights. Its rounded transom adds European flair and houses two personal watercraft in separate garages.

Inside, the 80 has an inviting salon with semicircular seating. To port, a full galley sits opposite a roomy dining area. Forward, at the helm, the captain and navigator can work side by side on the double-wide seat. Belowdecks, the master stateroom runs the boat's full beam and has a richly appointed head and entertainment center. Two twin-berth staterooms, each with private head, host family and friends. A VIP stateroom forward provides guests with their own TV, stereo, head and walk-in closet.

The 80's flybridge is reached via an external staircase or by access steps from the galley. At the upper helm station, a triple seat allows the captain to entertain guests and show off the boat's impressive performance. Twin Caterpillar diesels power the 80 to a comfortable 27-knot cruise speed and 30-knot top end
