More info

The Bertram 38 III is the third boat of this size to be produced by the Miami boatbuilder. She is an entirely new design from the keel up and the Bertram troops claim that she is faster, lighter, and more spacious than her predecessors. Available with either gasoline or diesel power, the 38 III, when powered with twin 330 hp MerCruiser gasoline engines, will cruise at 24 mph (20.8 knots) and reach a top speed of 30 mph (26 knots).

With twin 270 hp Cummins diesels she will cruise at 24 mph and reach 27 mph (23.4 knots) at the top end. With the standard fuel load of 400 gals, estimated cruising ranges are 340 miles for the gas boat and up to 500 miles for the diesel version. The gas powered boat is fitted with Bertram's Veloci-Jet exhaust system which reduces noise and fumes.

The Bertram 38 is designed with accommodations for a party of six and is complete with enclosed head and galley. The forward cabin sleeps two in a large V-berth complete with lockers and full length shelves p & s. A novel, and practical, feature of the forward cabin is an optional head located to starboard which, in conjunction with a lavatory, transforms the cabin into a private area for the owner or a paid hand.

A second cabin, with upper and lower berths, is located at the foot of the companionway to port. An enclosed head with shower, lavatory, and marine w/d is abeam of the double cabin. The deck salon houses a convertible settee located against the cockpit bulkhead. Her in-line galley runs along the starboard side of the salon and is equipped with a three-burner range with oven and Rotobroil, 6.6 cu ft refrigerator/freezer, stainless steel sink, and generous locker and drawer stowage. Space is provided for an optional under-counter freezer. For those who might operate the 38-footer in northern waters, space is also provided for an optional lower control station.
