With its leading-edge design, advanced equipment list and luxurious interior appointments, the McKinna 65 Pilothouse more closely resembles a megayacht than a mid-range motoryacht. “This is a remarkable hull," I said to McKinna Yachts President Bob Million, sitting to my left in a Stidd helm seat on the flying bridge of the 65 Pilothouse Motoryacht. As I spoke, I watched our bow slice into the oncoming six-foot wave, lift a little and throw wide fans of creamy white spray well away from the hull. I was mildly surprised at the comfortable motion we experienced, considering this is a relatively shallow-draft vessel with prop tunnels and a full-bore luxury interior. In retrospect, I shouldn't have been surprised at all.
