The Mediterranean 54 is a high performance, modified deep "V", convertible sportfishing and cruising yacht designed to be as much at home tournament fishing on rough off-shore waters as it is luxury cruising with the family. The minute you see this super-performing, two to four stateroom, tournament fishing machine, you'll understand why all others suffer by comparison. The design is a head-turner. The Mediterranean 54 is striking and sleek, with a rakish bow and a sweeping sheer. The extra large flybridge offers a walk-around, sit around space fro more than ten adults. The console is large enough to flush mount all of the electronic you can think of. There is a bar/food serving-counter ready to install an optional sink, refrigerator/freezer and an automatic ice maker. Lockable rod and reel storage is provided for up to 12 rods. You won't find a larger or more convenient and usable bridge this side of a 65 footer.

Built in California and sold factory-direct, the Mediterranean 54 is a no-frills flybridge yacht for West Coast boaters with an eye for value. She’s constructed on a solid fiberglass hull with a wide 16'8" beam and a shallow keel. (PBG)

The 180 square foot cockpit will delight even the most sophisticated tournament fisherman. With a sculptured molded-in bait and tackle center area, counter top cutting board, sink with hot and cold water, port and starboard(5.5' long - 16 cubic feet) fish boxes, and direct access to the full head-room engine-room; you'll be the talk of the docks. There is also room for circulating bait wells, either at the aft end of the cockpit or forward in the cockpit, and a place for cockpit controls, neatly hidden away.

The 16' x 16' full stand-up engine room is outstanding. You will marvel at the attention to detail that is evident everywhere. The engine room is a mirror fiberglass engineered structure that incorporates fiberglass drip pans under the engines, fiberglass battery boxes with lock-down hinged, vented covers, full length engine stringers, and molded in separate sumps for the bilge pumps and shower drains.

The standard soundproofing is superior, featuring a special mylar faced sound barrier material both on top of and on the underside of the main salon sole. Special attention has been given to vibration borne noise dampening. This coupled with large fiberglass water lift mufflers makes the Mediterranean 54 one of the quietest and smoothest vessels of her size afloat. All of the engine room machinery and equipment are easily accessible for maintenance, and the engines, equipment, wiring, and plumping installations are of the best in the industry. We invite you to compare our engine room with others and then you will appreciate just how well engineered and well built the Mediterranean 54 really is.

The interior layouts and details area delight. We know that after a day of fighting fish, your Mediterranean 54 should become a luxurious, comfortable refuge. The standard "A" interior arrangement has the galley down with two double cabins and two heads. The main salon is open to receive your choice of sofas, chairs, etc. The "B" interior arrangement has the galley up in the salon area to port and has three double staterooms and two heads. Interior "C" in the same as "b" except that a serving bar with 3 stools has been added. Interior "D" has a large owner's stateroom to port and amidships with the galley aft. The standard queen berth cabin forward can be made into two double cabins. This is available on all lay-outs. We will also build custom interior to fit an owner's special requirements.

All in all, we don't believe that you can find a better looking, better performing, better engineered, or a better finished convertible sportfishing yacht in this size range regardless of the price. You owe it to yourself to take a factory tour and demonstration run and see for yourself the performance, the quality, the style, and the value of the Mediterranean 54

Quality Features of the Mediterranean 54

Hand-rubbed, varnished teak interior - a high luster, furniture/piano quality finish (you won't find any better

Fresh water outlet with hose is provided in the engine room, making it easy to add water to the engine cooling system.

Extensive use of a custom sound barrier material (manufactured especially for Mediterranean), for superior engine room sound control - measured with a dBA meter, the Mediterranean 54 sound level is about one half of that of many of our competitors.

Propeller shaft seals are used instead of old-fashioned stuffing boxes - eliminates shaft packing, water leakage adjustment and shaft wear.

A polished stainless steel rub strip is used at the bonded hull to deck joint - no rubber or aluminum extrusions.

A stainless steel chain stopper is used with the anchor windlass system - all windlass manufacturers recommend one, but few builders install it.

A stainless steel swivel shackle with safety wired shackle pins is installed between the anchor and the anchor chain.

A 1 1/4" diameter, polished, stainless steel bow rail is used - not the 1" diameter or aluminum bow rail found on other boats in this size range.

All cockpit hatches have rubber seals, overboard drains and lock-down handles - no hatch leaks or hatch rattles.

2 1/2" diameter Aquamet 22 double tapered propeller shafts - trued to within .002" for straightness - smoother running and easy removal of shaft coupling.

Cast bronze propeller shaft "V" struts with intermediate struts and cutlass bearings are used - not the single legged strut found in most boats. This leads to less vibration and strain on the equipment.

Easily accessible fiberglass built-in battery boxes with hinged lock down vented covers for easier service.

A mirror-smooth fiber glass engine room structure with fiber glass drip pans under the engines make it easy to clean and keep clean.

Vinylester resins are used for a superior finish on the gelcoat, for greater structural strength and a far greater resistance to gelcoat problems below the water line.

High tech stitch-bonded biased bi-axial fiberglass fabrics are utilized in the hull laminate for superior strength to weight ratios.

An epoxy barrier/primer is applied to the hull before the bottom anti-fouling paint is put in - this reduces the possibility of gelcoat blisters below the waterline.

The detailed, 156-page owner's manual supplied with the boat is the best in the industry.

A single 1400 gallon fiberglass fuel tank (far superior to aluminum - no corrosion). The tank may be filled from port or starboard - simple fuel system (no transfer pumps, separate tanks or complicated valves).

The transom deadrise angle of 15 degrees is designed to provide a good ride in a rough sea and yet at the same time use far less horsepower and fuel than the 24 to 28 degree deadrises angles seen on the first generation deep "V" hulls.

A cutaway forefoot with relatively wide chines forward help deflect spray when it parts away from the convex forward sections. The width of the downward angle chines, broadening to large running surfaces aft, help to quickly lift the boat to a plane and steady the hull in a beam sea.

The rocker or upsweep aft of the hull's fairbody keel line, is just right to substantially reduce the resistance and yet at the same time provide a low running angle of attack for maximum performance.

A second chine (known as a double chine design) has been added 4" above the load waterline. This design feature accomplishes the following:

  • Reduces the waterline beam which reduces the hull resistance and fuel consumption.
  • Increases the interior room for a given water line beam
  • Acts as an additional spray deflector and hull stabilizer.

Basically, the design provides a good level riding, dry offshore sea boat that is so easily driven that it achieves better performance with less fuel consumption than the first generation deep "V" hulls.
