You can't help but smile to yourself, feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin as your family settles in for a summertime cruise in your 3500. The warmth increases with thoughts of your destination and the endless days of sailing ahead.

The fore-thought and craftsmanship that are hallmarks of every Tartan Yacht are evident in the quality construction of the 3500. Her frame is engineered and constructed to minimize weight and increase interior volume without sacrificing its integrity. The hull is a handcrafted Baltek balsa-cored sandwich structure with a vinylester barrier coat between NPG/ISO gelcoat and the handlaid laminate. A cored deck and a bond-in-place structure produce a strength-to-weight ratio that uniquely makes her a high performance, medium displacement (11,400 lbs) cruiser/racer.

"The tricky balance between making a boat light yet strong and fun to sail seems to have been met with the 3500, and the result is an easily handled sloop that is ready to go cruising yet also has the performance potential that should make it a favorite for club racers." -SAIL Magazine

Strength through craft & conviction

The Tartan name has remained a strong and reputable brand for over 35 years primarily due to the product and design philosophy instilled by its founders. Now under the design leadership of renowned designer Tim Jackett, the entire Tartan line maintains its tradition of strong and well mannered performance yachts. Crafted with the very best materials and processes, each Tartan employs sound construction and innovative accommodations that ensure comfort in all conditions.

Each component is well thought-out and hand built by skilled craftsmen leaving no detail overlooked; from the integrity of the hand laminated hull, the glassing of all structural timbers and bulkheads wihile in the mold, to fully finishing all cabinetry with backs and trim that are plugged and hand finished. All of these details are brought together into designs that share the graceful aesthetics and contemporary lines inherent to their predecessors and the Tartan name.

Owning a Tartan is pride in ownership. The investment in quality affords a sense of security and confidence, and is easily offset by the exceptional value enjoyed later on.
