About your Captain:

Captain Ken
Capt. Ken started boating in his teenage years as a part time deckhand on commercial fishing boats during the summer in Santa Cruz, California. After completing two years of college, he became a U S Merchant Marine,
sailing the world aboard large cargo ships. After considering a maritime career, he choose to be a High School Physical Education Teacher.

In the early 70’s, while teaching high school, he became a PADI Scuba Instructor and a dive master/deck hand for dive boats in the Monterey Bay area during the summer and weekends. In the evening he taught scuba diving at the University of the Pacific. He bought his first dive boat, using it for scuba diving instruction and for his first boat charter business

In 1981, Capt. Ken moved to Southern California, where he taught scuba diving through the Marine Science Technology Department at Saddleback College, using his dive boat for instruction charters off Laguna Beach and
Catalina Island. During this time he studied to obtain a 100 ton USGC Captain License. In 1990, he pursued his dream of a warm water dive charter business on the Kona Coast, Big Island of Hawaii. He taught full
time at Kamehameha Schools, and started a scuba diving charter business with his power boat brought from California.

In 1992 he returned to Dana Point, resumed teaching diving at Saddleback College in the evening, and took Life & Physical Science classes to expand his California Teaching Credential. For the next 15 years, he taught high
school Science and ran his scuba charter business on weekends and summer.

Retiring in 2007 from teaching, he devoted his time to boat charters. In 2009 he and his wife, Helen, purchased their present boat in Mississippi taking six months to marina hop along the InterCoastal Waterway to Fort
Lauderdale, Florida. There the boat was loaded on a freighter which brought it to Ensenada, where they picked it up bringing it home to Dana Point Harbor. They expanded the charter business into Whale/Dolphin
Watching, Coastal Cruises, and Sunset Cruises. Today Capt. Ken and his first mate, Helen, enjoy taking people out for ocean adventures and sharing their past ocean experiences.
