The salon's panoramic size may surprise you. With a wide, 22-foot beam, the 88 presents interiors that rival much larger yachts. But it's not just about the space. The 88's salon is one of the yacht's true gems, with lustrous, exotic Sapele and burl wood giving it warmth and richness. African Sapele's rare, interlocking grain places it among Europe's most desired woods. Ocean Alexander's master craftsmen have made the most of Sapele's noble qualities by outfitting the salon with some of the finest cabinetry available in the world. Even the windows are graced with custom mullions.

Because you undoubtedly have your own flair for entertaining, we make sure the essential ingredients are already waiting for you. We've specified a 42-inch flat-screen TV paired with a professional sound package and media rack. Our world-class craftsmen create the 88's salon furnishings and reserve an abundance of luxury fabric choices for your final approval.

Step outside the quiet of the salon and find yourself on a shady cockpit with a sweeping spiral staircase that leads up to the pilothouse or down to crew's quarters. Surrounded by our hallmark elliptical handrails, the cockpit has its own settee, table, wet bar and cabinetry. Farther aft is a wide, nonskid swim platform, complete with twin spiral steps. A no-cost option allows you to transform the 88 into a yacht-fish version. Other options include extending the 88's cockpit to 90 feet and adding an enclosed swim step and boarding gates.

A CULTURED DINING EXPERIENCE

Culinary brilliance is something the 88 can definitely accommodate. Ocean Alexander has specified a galley to satisfy the demands of an experienced chef. The functionality of full-sized appliances on a yacht this large is a must, and we've installed only the finest. This galley not only has a dedicated Sub-Zero® 700 refrigerator, but a Sub-Zero 700 freezer as well - tastefully camouflaged by our cabinetmakers in gleaming African Sapele wood. The electric cooktop and oven are each 24-inch Gaggenau™. A 30-inch microwave/convection oven brings speed to the mix, and the finer points of preparation are simpler with access to an instant hot-water tap, a wine cooler, purified water and a large Franke® double sink.

Ocean Alexander has dedicated an oversized air-conditioning system and exhaust system specifically for the galley. Even with the impressive list of practicalities and luxuries in the galley's specs, the first impression here comes from the richness of custom, hidden-hinge Sapele cabinetry, granite countertops and welcoming maple flooring. Overhead dish lockers fore and aft bring flexibility to work patterns while they add even more exotic-wood allure to the space.

Between the galley and the 88's exquisite salon is a full dining room for sophisticated entertaining. Lined with exotic-wood cabinetry, panoramic windows and glimmering mirrors, the dining room is stunning. Our designers have created its contemporary table to complement the character of the 88 and ensure the comfort of your guests.

MAGNIFICENT ACCOMMODATIONS

In surprising ways, the 88's staterooms give compelling proof of our three decades of obsession with yacht-building excellence. There is no part of your yacht as personal to you and your guests as the cabins you retire to each night. Quiet, smooth performance is paramount. Ocean Alexander commissioned an independent, international maritime research firm to test a fully loaded 88 for sound and vibration. The results were even more impressive than we'd hoped to see, easily and significantly surpassing ISO industry standards. Ocean Alexander's Quash™ and lead foam sound and vibration insulation reigns throughout the boat, but you may appreciate it most in the serenity of our restful lower cabins.

The amidships, full-beam master stateroom is secluded at the end of its own private hallway. Inside is a king-sized, innerspring berth surrounded by expensive burl. Custom exotic-wood cabinetry includes a massive headboard with recessed lighting, a cedar-lined hanging locker with automatic lighting, twin full-height hanging lockers, a bureau, twin chests of drawers and marble- or granite-topped twin nightstands. A his-and-hers head completes this private cabin with a Jacuzzi®, a shower room and glistening marble or granite flooring.

Three more guest staterooms grace the 88, each with its own head, flat-screen television, sound system, queen-sized berths, custom cabinetry and cedar-lined hanging lockers. Guest heads are fitted with superior-quality Keuco™ fixtures and Grohe® faucets.

Even your crew will have quiet quarters. The captain's stateroom features our Sapele cabinetry and a flat-screen TV and audio system. Mates and captain have a shared kitchenette and laundry facilities.

OUR ENGINEERING AT YOUR COMMAND

The 88's sky lounge is the center of command, with the capacity for an imposing array of instrumentation as well as comfortable entertaining space. Black leather Stidd® electric helm seats set an authoritative tone at the massive bridge. Your guests will enjoy the comfortable settee and table, the wet bar and refrigerator, and the convenience of a day head nearby.

Far below is the 88's signature engine room. Heavy-duty Aqua met® 22HS shafts deliver power to our high-performance, computer-designed NiBrAL Class S propellers. The 88 boasts a custom-designed underwater exhaust system. We've incorporated the finest engine-room advantages on the market, including a floating Sylomer® deck, Delta T™ air handling, the revolutionary OctoPlex® electrical monitoring and control system, Vimar™ switches, Gulf Coast fuel polishing, Northern Lights® generators and dual
Caterpillar® engines.

The 88 at your command incorporates hallmark Ocean Alexander exclusives, such as our elliptical stainless-steel handrails, formed
meticulously by hand from solid stock, and our custom-built fuel tanks, reinforced with 5086 H32 aluminum plate and 6061 T6 stiffeners. Inside our solid-bottom hull and throughout critical areas are stringers and stiffeners reinforced with unidirectional carbon fiber (which has 10 times the strength of fiberglass). From tempered, near-bulletproof glass to the hydrodynamic superiority of our hull tunnels, Ocean Alexander's obsession with safety and fine engineering bears a closer look.

Because Ocean Alexander insists on engineering peace of mind for its owners, we install state-of-the-art OctoPlex electrical monitoring and control systems on our 88 motoryachts. Developed by the aerospace industry, OctoPlex is made by the leading supplier of electrical fail-safe systems for jets used by the U.S. Air Force.ENGINEERING PEACE OF MIND

Here beats the true heart of every yachtsman. While guests might enjoy the decks and luxuries of the cabins, the captain is more likely to find ultimate inspiration in a beautifully planned and executed engine room.

The fascination begins with the view - an impressive expanse of clean, gleaming stainless steel and meticulously placed systems for plumbing, hydraulic, electrical and more. Whenever it's feasible, we make sure our engine rooms are full-height for standing ease.

DRIVE TRAIN

Many manufacturers use Aquamet 22 stainless-steel shafts, but ours are crafted from Aqua met 22HS. Its inherently superior properties net us a heavier-duty shaft that's actually smaller in diameter. Aquamet also boasts superior corrosion resistance.

The aft end of our drive shaft is supported by a cast-bronze V-strut with foil-shaped legs that angle forward to avoid introducing turbulence to the water in front of the propeller. Propeller thrust transmits through engine mounts into stainless-steel engine beds, which are through-bolted to reinforced engine stringers.
